If you scored well in JAMB 2026 and you are considering universities in Nasarawa State, chances are you have come across two names more than once: FULAFIA (Federal University of Lafia) and NSUK (Nasarawa State University, Keffi). What Is NSUK?

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) was established following Nasarawa State Law No. 2 of 2001 during the tenure of Governor Abdullahi Adamu, with the aim of providing access to tertiary education for Nasarawa State indigenes and preparing graduates with skills for state and national development. Academic activities commenced in March 2002. 

Unlike FULAFIA, NSUK is a state university, owned and funded by the Nasarawa State Government. It is headquartered in Keffi and operates satellite campuses in Lafia, Gudi, and Pyanku. The fact that it has a campus in Lafia — the same city as FULAFIA — is one major reason candidates frequently mix up the two schools.

In 2025, the NUC approved six brand-new programmes for FULAFIA to commence in the 2025/2026 academic session: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying, Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning, Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M). FULAFIA's JAMB cut-off marks vary by programme. The general minimum is 170, but competitive courses like Medicine and Surgery require 230, Medical Laboratory Science requires 220, Nursing requires 210, and Radiography also requires 210.

NSUK school fees for fresh students range from approximately ₦65,000 to ₦260,000 depending on the course and student category. By sheer volume of programmes, NSUK currently has the edge — offering over 70 programmes compared to FULAFIA's 26+ departments. However, FULAFIA is growing rapidly. The NUC's 2025 approval of six new programmes including Law and Pharmacy shows that FULAFIA is actively expanding its curriculum, and the gap will narrow in coming sessions.

If you want Law, Engineering, Architecture, or Estate Management right now, NSUK has the stronger and more established offerings in those areas. If you want Computing, Medical Laboratory Science, or any of the newly approved programmes like Veterinary Medicine or Pharmacy, FULAFIA is your go-to.

NSUK Post-UTME 2026/2027: What Is the Current Status?

This is the question on everyone's lips right now. As of June 2026, the date for NSUK Post-UTME screening for the 2026/2027 session has not yet been officially announced by the institution.

The registration process, when it opens, will run through the university's central application portal at ug.nsuk.edu.ng/application. The NSUK general UTME cut-off mark for the 2026/2027 academic session is 170, and the application fee is ₦2,000 (non-refundable), payable through the admission portal. 

Based on what happened in the 2025/2026 session, NSUK opened its Post-UTME and Direct Entry registration window from 28 July to 3 October 2025, with a final one-week extension to accommodate candidates still awaiting NECO results. The expectation for 2026/2027 is a similar timeline — likely opening around July or August 2026.

What candidates should do right now:

Do not pay anyone claiming to sell you the form outside the official portal. The form costs ₦2,000 and is obtained exclusively through the school's own system.

FULAFIA Post-UTME 2026/2027

Information about FULAFIA's Post-UTME form, admission requirements, and departmental cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 academic year can be accessed through the official FULAFIA Students Portal. Candidates should watch the official FULAFIA website at fulafia.edu.ng for announcements. 

Final Verdict: Which School Should You Choose?

There is no wrong answer here — both schools are NUC-accredited and fully recognised. Your choice should depend on three things:

1. Your course: If your preferred course is only available at one of the schools, that decides it for you. Check each school's accredited course list before making your JAMB choice.

2. Your location and budget: FULAFIA in Lafia is cheaper. NSUK has multiple campuses including one in Lafia itself, giving flexibility in where you live while studying.

3. Your career goals: For federal civil service positions, federal university degrees often carry an edge. For state government jobs in Nasarawa, NSUK graduates are well-regarded and many hold key positions across the state.
