How Nkuzify Came To Be: To Teach Anyone Anything

Every name has a story. Ours begins with one simple idea: teaching.

Where The Name Comes From

Nkuzify is not a random word. It comes from nkuzi, the Igbo word for teaching. We added the English ending "-fy," which turns a word into an action, like simplify or clarify. Put together, Nkuzify means to teach.

That is our whole purpose: to teach people anything at all.

Why Teaching?

I am the founder and convener of Nkuzify, and I have been a teacher for 12 years. I started teaching in 2014 and never stopped. I am a tutor at heart. I have seen the moment a student finally understands something, and I wanted to build a place where that moment can happen for as many people as possible.

How We Began

We launched fully in December 2024, starting with JAMBites, our exam preparation program for JAMB, WAEC, NECO and JUPEB. Now, in 2026, we have already graduated two batches of JAMBites students, and we are just getting started.

Where We Are Going

Exams are only the beginning. Our long-term plan is to teach things nobody thought to teach, especially the rich and hidden stories of Africa.

One example is the names of places around the world that have been misplaced or wrongly named. This comes from our sister project, Igbomenclature.org, which works to set the record straight.

We are also opening a new cultural branch. Our writer Ezeakonobi Arọh is leading it, sharing Igbo teachings and traditions right here on this blog. Start with his piece on ancestral return.
