Coach Ekwy (Ekwutosi Cynthia Okeh): The Digital Witch Who Taught Me Remote Work
Recognised by Nkuzify as Leading Teacher and Educator of the Year.

Not every teacher stands in front of a chalkboard. Some teach on Zoom, in WhatsApp groups and through a phone screen, and they change lives all the same. Coach Ekwy is one of those teachers, and she is one of the reasons I work in tech today.
Who She Is
Coach Ekwy is Ekwutosi Cynthia Okeh, the founder and lead trainer of the Digital Witch Support Community. She is also known online as the Digital Witch. According to Technext, she comes from Enugu State and moved to Lagos after her youth service. She found tech almost by accident, when she came across a cloud computing channel on YouTube and kept watching until she had taught herself enough to build a career in it.
The name Digital Witch began with her friends, who noticed that she could find a way around almost any digital problem. It stuck, and it became the name of her community, which she started in 2021. Her own website says she was selected for the Tony Elumelu mentorship in 2022, and she has been profiled by Tribune and Technext.
What She Teaches
She teaches the practical skills that let a person work for clients anywhere in the world, from home. These include customer support, virtual assistance, lead generation, telemarketing, tech support, CRM tools, and calendar and Airbnb management, along with the use of AI tools. Her community also offers more advanced tracks such as cloud computing, project management and data analysis.
Just as important is the job side. She shows students how to open an Upwork account, build a profile that clients notice, write proposals that get replies, and prepare for interviews. Her lessons cover the freelance marketplaces, including Upwork and Fiverr, that remote work runs on.

How She Teaches
Her classes are live on Zoom and recorded for anyone who cannot attend, and students are added to WhatsApp and Telegram groups where they ask questions, share job leads and learn from earlier students. She starts from the basics, so a student does not need any tech background, and she has said that a phone is enough to begin with.
She is also honest about what she offers. She does not promise anyone a job. She teaches the skills, points students to where the work is, and leaves the commitment to the student.
The People She Has Taught
The numbers vary depending on the year and the source. She told LinkedIn that her community grew past 20,000 students in 2022, and in early 2025 she told Technext that she had trained more than 40,000 people in under four years. The Digital Witch website currently gives about 30,000 students. Whichever figure you trust, it is tens of thousands of people, and many of them are women, stay-at-home mothers, graduates and teachers who were looking for a way to earn.

What She Taught Me
I was one of her students. Coach Ekwy taught me how to use Upwork, Fiverr and the other apps and platforms that remote jobs depend on. Before that, they were names I had heard. After her classes, they were tools I could use.
She is one of the reasons I am doing tech today. A teacher who opens a door like that deserves to be thanked in public.

Why Nkuzify Celebrates Her
Teaching has never been limited to a classroom. When a woman teaches thousands of strangers the skills to earn from home, she is doing a teacher's work at a scale most classrooms never reach. On this World Teachers' Day, Nkuzify celebrates Coach Ekwy as one of the leading teachers and educators of the year.
