Koncheski Boraski: The Friend Who Taught Me to Read to the End
Recognised by Nkuzify as Distinguished Teacher of the Year.
Koncheski Boraski taught me, and I respect him so much.
Who he is
His real name is Obinna Usulor, but to the many who follow his words he is Koncheski Boraski. We come from the same streets of Nkpor, where we both grew up, and he is the elder brother of the popular Igbo content creator Lord Zeus (Moses Anayochukwu Usulor). To me he is a friend, and he is a brother.
He is also a religious and political deconstructor. He takes apart the things people accept without question, beliefs, institutions and politics alike, and asks what is really holding them up.
How he is known online
Online, the name Koncheski Boraski is described as a fusion of Paul Konchesky and the word "Broski". Google's search overview presents him as a writer and digital content creator whose work covers long-form storytelling, social commentary, humour and lifestyle blogging. Followers call him the "Prince of Canterbury" and the "Vibes Master". You can follow him on Instagram (@boraski).
What he taught me
He taught me how to hold on and read long articles to the very end, past the point where most people scroll away. That one habit changed how I read, and reading changed how I write. A great deal of the way I put words together began with his example.
A moment I remember
There was never a classroom or a timetable. He was a friend on the streets of Nkpor where we grew up, and the teaching happened the way it does between brothers, in conversation, over time, without either of us calling it a lesson.
Thank you
Happy Teachers' Day, Koncheski Boraski, from all of us at Nkuzify.
