Mrs Queen Ese: 25 Years in the Classroom and Still Teaching
Recognised by Nkuzify as Frontline Teacher of the Year.
She is known for protocol. Ask anyone who works with her, and they'll tell you the same thing.
If you're meeting her for the first time, you might not like her right away, because she strictly stands on business. Things must be done the right way, through the right person, in the right order. In the corporate school world, she pays close attention to hierarchy and bureaucracy, and she doesn't apologize for it.
But stay around a little longer and you'll see another side. She is a mother at heart. She's jovial, she laughs easily, and she can be your friend even if you work under her. She'll remind you to follow procedure, then compliment your dress and gist with you if she has a free minute.
That's the administrator of Maris and Lois: firm on the rules, warm in spirit.
Who she is
Mrs Queen Ese is the administrator of Maris and Lois Modern Schools (MALMS), the school on Ogbaga Road, Abakaliki, where I teach.
Mrs Ese has taught for 25 years, and she still teaches today. Across those years she has managed up to 30 teachers under her. A leader who still stands in front of a class knows what her teachers go through, and it shows.

Through her influence, and that of Mrs Oluwarantimi Amarachi (Udoh), Nkuzify Tech has trained more than 100 students from the school, each with a login on our portal. Many of them have gone on to do great things.
She is a humble leader who leads by example, and she is always on time. Even when the administration is frustrating from the top, she stands in between, and she makes the way easier for both the teachers and the administration. To the people she works with, she is a mother.
In her years in the industry she has managed between five hundred and a thousand students and more than thirty teachers, and she understands the details of education and teaching. She knows how to settle issues between teachers and staff. She is truly an administrator of excellence.
What she taught me
She showed me what good administration looks like: a school stays steady because someone cares about the details.
She still goes into the classroom. She enters secondary school to teach, primary school to teach, basic to teach, and she enters kindergarten to arrange the children. Whenever something is not going well, she still plays the role of principal, and whenever it is needed she leads the assembly. She is strong enough to lead an army of academics.
A moment I remember
More than a hundred students trained, and each one has a login on our portal. That is what happens when a school leader opens the door.
Every time it is her birthday, the way the children celebrate her, the way the teachers celebrate her and the way the administration celebrates her shows what kind of person she is.
Thank you
Happy Teachers' Day, the administrator of Maris and Lois, from all of us at Nkuzify.
