FUNAI JUPEB 2026/2027: Is It Open? Plus Degree Admission Update

Two websites say FUNAI admission is open. A third says it closed. If you have spent a night refreshing pages, this post is the tie-breaker, and it goes further than the degree question, because the part most people miss is JUPEB.

The Degree Admission Is Closed

The latest official notice on the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) website extended the 2026/2027 supplementary admission registration to Monday, 12 October 2026. That was the final degree-admission window listed. Read it on the official FUNAI notice.

Some older pages still show 30 June, 31 July or 14 August as deadlines. Those belong to the earlier Post-UTME round and are no longer current.

What The University Is Doing Now

  • Fresh and returning students arrive on 24 and 25 October 2026.
  • University-wide orientation for freshmen holds on 3 November.
  • Matriculation is scheduled for 26 February 2027.

These dates come from the official 2026/2027 academic calendar. The university also published its schedule of student charges on 17 October.

The Part Everyone Misses: FUNAI JUPEB And Pre-Degree

FUNAI runs JUPEB and Pre-Degree through its Centre for Educational Services (CES), also called the JUPEB/Pre-Degree School, at Aguogboriga Estate, Abakaliki. Both programmes are non-resident, according to FUNAI’s own notice for the last session.

  • JUPEB: about ten months over two semesters. It prepares you for direct entry into 200 Level at FUNAI and at the many universities, in Nigeria and abroad, that accept JUPEB. FUNAI’s notice puts that number at over 90.
  • Pre-Degree: runs for about the same length and prepares you for degree programmes in all disciplines except Medicine and Surgery.
  • Law, Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science: candidates who applied for these through JUPEB are admitted into 200 Level through what FUNAI calls a keenly competitive process.

Who Can Apply

Last session’s notice asked for at least five credits in five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, at a maximum of two sittings, with subjects relevant to your chosen course. Expect the same rule, and check the new notice for changes.

What We Know About The 2026/2027 Form

  • FUNAI’s admissions menu now lists a “2026/2027 JUPEB Registration” link.
  • Last session’s online form closed on Friday 31 October 2025 at 11:59pm, and listings reported a form fee of ₦15,000.
  • We could not find a published 2026/2027 closing date on any page we were able to open. Do not assume you have extra time.

How To Apply

  1. Open funai.edu.ng, click ADMISSIONS, then “2026/2027 JUPEB Registration”, or go straight to the CES registration portal.
  2. Use a valid email address and your own personal phone number. Last session’s guidance stressed this.
  3. Have a recent coloured passport photograph with a white background, taken not earlier than three months before you apply.
  4. Submit before the closing date.
  5. Report to the Centre for Educational Services for registration and screening only after you receive an email invitation and an admission letter approved by the Director.

Do Not Pay An Agent

FUNAI has stated that it has not authorised any person or agent, corporate or individual, to sell application forms on its behalf. Applications are strictly online. See last session’s official JUPEB and Pre-Degree notice for the exact wording.

Where To Check For Yourself

Why Websites Disagree

Many admission blogs copy a notice once and never update it. A page written in June still says “open” in October. When a blog and the university disagree, the university’s own notice wins.

Status On 22 October 2026

  • Degree admission: closed on 12 October 2026.
  • JUPEB and Pre-Degree: registration portal listed for 2026/2027, closing date not confirmed.
  • Fresh students: arrival on 24 and 25 October.
