Have Not Got Admission Yet? Here Is Why There Is Still Hope In 2026
Somewhere tonight, a candidate is opening the CAPS page for the tenth time today. Same status. Same silence. If that is you, this article is for you, and I will be straight with you about what the calendar says, because it changed in the last few days.
The Dates That Decide Your Year
After a four-day disruption, JAMB restored its admission portal and reaffirmed the closing dates for the 2026/2027 exercise. Nothing moved, as this update lays out.

Why The Silence Is Not The End
The outage lasted about 96 hours, and the board blamed a hosting problem, as Fellow Press reported. What matters for you is what JAMB told institutions afterwards: speed up and recover the lost time. Schools are working against a fixed deadline, and offers can still go out while that clock runs. I am not promising you admission, because nobody can. I am telling you that quitting in September is quitting too early.
Four Things To Do This Week
- Get your result onto CAPS. If you registered as "awaiting result", NECO has now released, and JAMB has asked such candidates to upload or verify quickly. I broke down the steps in our NECO 2026 guide.
- Keep checking your status. Our guide to checking your admission status on CAPS shows you how. JAMB's advice, summarised here, is to monitor CAPS regularly because an offer can appear at any point, and to accept quickly when it does.
- Widen your options. Private universities have until 30 November and other institutions until 31 December. We keep track of which schools are still admitting, so start there.
- Beware of fake help. Nobody can "buy" you admission. Anyone who says otherwise is after your money.
If October Ends With Nothing
Then you have a plan B, and it is not failure. JUPEB can take you into 200 Level through Direct Entry, but the board's own FAQ says only NUC-approved, affiliated universities may run it, so never pay a tutorial centre. If you decide to write UTME again, read this before you write JAMB again so the second attempt is a stronger one.
